One more question: Is Prenzlauer Berg studenty area?

Me and my partner were told that Prenzlauer Berg is the nicest area to stay in Berlin. Thanks for all the advice!!

However I forgot to ask something. We are both young and love to be around young people. We are not so much into clubs but we love going to cafes and bars at night and in the day where there are students!!

Does Prenzlauer Berg cater for this or is Friedrichshain better for going out at night?

Someone told me both Prenzlauer Berg and Friedrichshain are both where the German students hang out...but I would appreciate more opinions please from people who live there or who know both areas well.

Both are great! Prenzlauer Berg is a tad more gentrified (=yuppie), so the %26quot;students%26quot; tend (sometimes) to be grad students with young families (lots of prams in the streets. In fact, this is the place with the highest birth rate in Germany!).

[Despite this, I would still prefer - if I were you - PBerg, where there are many more places to hang out]

In both neighbourhoods you have to prefer certain areas/streets, since they are both large and there are less fashionable areas, which - fortunately for the realtor - still belong to the district. However, even if your hotel is in one of those areas, it only means that it is in a more quiet part of the disctrict, you will be still able to reach the other parts easily.

and i found one hotel in friedrichshain called upstalsboom hotel on Gubener Straße 42

Eingang Kopernikusstr. 36

10243

could u tell me if these hotels are close to the fashionable areas? but quiet at same time? have you ever stayed in any of these hotels?

I%26#39;m not sure what you are looking for in a hotel, but the Hotel Adele and Alex Hotel on Griefswalder are a good location, but Griefswalder is a busy street so might get a little bit of loud traffic.

Myer%26#39;s hotel on Metzer is also a great location - near Kastanianallee nightlife in Prenz. Berg. There are a few others around there too, but I can%26#39;t recall the names.

Great area. Have a great time!

For aprtments look at www.123berlinzimmer.de (who we have booked through in the past) and www.ferienwohnungen24.de. Both have masses of choice and info in English.

Plus www.ferienwohnung-zimmer-berlin.de - In German or English and can search by neighborhood.
