Airport Hotels

We will be flying out of Frankfurt at mid-morning on Monday , July 16. We would like a hotel convienient to the airport. The Sheraton seems very pricey, but it couldn%26#39;t be closer. The Steigenberger has a shuttle, but I read that it does not stop at the terminal for flights to the U.S. Are there other good options? Would welcome ideas and advice. Thanks!

Just read messages to the earlier posting below (sorry, should have done that first!) We are flying at 11 am too! We have free nights at the Marriott, so maybe that would be a good choice. It%26#39;s downtown, but it sounds like access to the airport is easy via train?

The suburban trains (lines S8 and S9 I think) go from Mainz resp. Wiesbaden, stopping at the airport, and then across the city of Frankfurt with many stops. See www.rmv.de

The train takes about 15 min from the main station, resp. 20 min from the city center (station Hauptwache)

Thanks for the train infor, but Marriott won%26#39;t allow 3 of us in a room with our 25,000 point certificate...so back to square one. Where should I stay?!!!! None of the hotels jump out as the right choice. Thanks!

Do you insist on an international chain hotels? Frankfurt, being major banking and trade show center, has hundreds of hotels, most of them rather central. Just check www.hotel.de, use Römerberg (the central city square) as point of reference.

Actually, I prefer local. Thanks for the advice and the link!

Mainz is an easy and short trip by train to the Airport. I stay at the Hotel Hammer, across from the station (Hauptbahnhof). This works if you don%26#39;t have a lot of luggage. Not sure if they have triple rooms, but their rates are quite reasonable for the quality of the hotel, and breakfast is included.

Their internet site is

www.hotel-hammer.com

if you want to check.

Thanks so much. Mainz sounds like a good idea. Frankfurt somehow is a connundrum - nothing jumps out as the right choice. I%26#39;ve planned two weeks worth of travel through Austria and Germany, relying on Trip Advisor friends and forums, and each step has seemed very straight forward - the right itineraries, the perfect hotels. Not so Frankfurt! Some love it, some hate it. Some hotels get 5%26#39;s and then in the next reading, they get 1%26#39;s. I%26#39;m happy to avoid Frankfurt altogether and give Mainz a try. Thanks for the suggestion!!
