Is it feasible to do a day trip from Berlin and be able to see the main sights of dresden?

Yes, take an early AM train; it%26#39;s a 2 hour train ride, very easy...if you like to walk, I suggest get off train at Neustadt, first Dresden stop, look around there for a couple hours in the AM, then go to the historic section by streetcar or on foot after lunch.
Or alternatively and maybe a better choice, do Neustadt at night, there%26#39;s lots of cool rstrts. and clubs on that side of the Elbe. Then take a train back from Neustadt when you%26#39;ve done enough.
It%26#39;s well worth a day, but I spent 3 nights there at xmas.
