Three Days to Fill

Myself and a girlfriend are travelling to Berlin next month and want to fill as much of our time there. We are keen on bargain shopping, good food and fun drinking. Hotel is the Arcotel which is well placed for nightlife I understand. Any recommended bars? Fun, friendly and walking distance?

With the Oranienburger Str. on your doorstep you%26#39;ll also find nightlife on your doorstep. I personally prefer other areas for going out though. You could also try the following areas

Prenzlauer Berg (e.g. around Helmholtzplatz)

Charlottenburg (e.g. around Savignyplatz)

Schöneberg (e.g. around Winterfeldplatz)

Kreuzberg (e.g. around Bergmannstr.)

Friedrichshain (e.g. around Simon-Dach-Str.)

As for shopping you could try the mall at Potsdamer Platz or the Ku%26#39;Damm area.

BerlinGal gave great advices, although for bargain shopping I would go neither to Potsdamer Platz nor to Ku/Damm, both are high street. Try the Wilmersdorfer Str. shopping district instead (S Bahn Charlottenburg or U-Bahn Wilmersdorfer Str).

Another good idea to get to know the hot places would be to take a pub crawl with one of the English-language tour operators.

Thanks for info. We have a bit of a plan sorted now (we think....) Friday night will be spent in Prenzlauerberg and Saturday in Charlottenberg areas. Really looking forward to trip-weather forecast is showers but no worries, we are coming from northern England-we are not afraid of rain!!!!!!!!
