Hi
I am travelling to Dortmund on wednesday and fly into Dusseldorf. I want to get a train then to Dortmund. I have failed to understand the VRR link on the website. Can anyone give me a few pointers.
Thanks

Just take the SkyTrain (the airport monorail link) to the Düsselldorf Airport station, which is on the mainline from Düsseldorf to Dortmund. Practically all trains stop there. Then take the next one to Dortmund.

Hi
Thanks for the speedy reply. There seems to be a selection of trains on the map. Can I get an RE or S-Bahn there and what is the difference? I have never travelled in Germany before so I%26#39;m trying to be as prepared as possiblr to reduce the stress.

S-Bahn is the suburban train, stopping at every little urban/suburban station. RE is Regional Express, which only stops at more important stations. There is no difference in price, but often up to 2x difference in travel time.

And by the way, your VRR ticket is not only valid for the trip to Dortmund main station, but to any other point of the city by tram, bus or subway.

DB timetable
http://reiseauskunft.bahn.de/bin/query.exe/e
From: DUS
To: Dortmund
and select as means of transport %26quot;only local transport%26quot;.
Than you%26#39;ll get all connections you can use with a VRR zone C ticket (the DB timetable does however not display prices for connections under the VRR tariff).
As altamiro already wrote, VRR tickets are zone-to-zone tickes. You can use them to reach any train/tram/bus stop in Dortmund.
