I%26#39;m attending a working conference 01Jun- 04 Jun and my freedom during the days will be limited. I will be arrving 1 day early for some sightseeing.
To the locals, What is available to do during the late afternoon and evening hours or can you point me in the right direction to look things up myself.
I realize I can head out to restaurants and walk around town itself, but is there anything that really stands out to see or try?
FYI, I%26#39;m an single widower of 40.

Civil twilight will be past 10pm at the time of your visit.
Museums and other sights will hower close mostly at 6pm.
Most sights are concentrated in the Altstadt (old town). Which is pretty contact. For nightlife the Neustadt (new town - %26quot;new%26quot; is however relative) is the best area.

Also nice the %26quot;Blue Wonder%26quot; a bridge and the Dresden cable railway and suspension railway next to it.

My first recommendation is always to attend a concert, opera, musical or so, given that you like classical music. Try to get a ticket for the Semper Opera house - famous for architecture and music. Carmen and Aida are on the schedule for these days. On 31 May they have a chamber music concert.
If you like classical music then there is another interesting event going on these days: www.musikfestspiele.com You could at least try to go to the Vesper at the Kreuzkirche on 02 June 6 pm. The boys choir is world-famous.
There is an excellent Travestie Theatre in the Neustadt, performing 31 May 8 pm and 01/02 June 10.30 pm, 03 June 7 pm It%26#39;s really good quality and fun, but tickets are hard to get.
The Blue Note Jazz Club in the Neustadt district has good live Jazz music. 03/04 June 9 pm and Blues on 31 May (Shannon Lyon).
There are a couple of good bars and clubs in the old town, too: in the Keminski Taschenberg Hotel the American Classic Bar (?), in the Hilton (entrance Münzgasse) another one (better IMO).
One other option is to do an evening river cruise on a paddle steamer or other boat. They offer Jazz tours every Fri/Sat 7.30 - 10.30 and Summer Night cruises with dancing and buffet every Sat, 8 - 12 pm. Departure downtown, not to miss.
In general we locals love to just sit in a beer garden by the river (around the Blue Wonder Bridge e.g.) drinking beer, chatting, watching people.
If you%26#39;re up to skating - there is organised Night Skating on 01 June 7 pm.

I appreciate both the responses and will follow up on these once in town next week.
Thanks!
