transportation from Hamburg and Berlin

My wife and I are arriving bu ship in Hamburg.I looked at thr trains and they seem expensive. Is a car service faster and or cheaper. We will need to return to Hamburg to catch or plane 5 days later. Is it feasible to do a day trip from Berlin to Dresden?

%26gt; Is a car service faster and or cheaper.

Faster?

The train travels at 230 km/h.

Cheaper?

300 km one way in a car with driver, cheaper than a train? Is labor that cheap in Texas?

The car with driver will definitely be more expensive than the train plus you might be even slower than by train.

The cheapest mode of transport is the bus. http://www.berlinlinienbus.de/

The reason I asked about a car is because I saw a comment about GermanTransfer that costs about 33E if you give them 30 Days notice. This may not be correct.

The 33 EUR fare applies for one way transfer pp between Berlin Airports and city of Dresden only.

A rental car would be an alternative to train travel if you were happy with driving.

Hi,

there also is a bus company called Berlin Linien Bus. They go at least 5 times / day from Hamburg to Berlin - and back.

The trip with the bus takes a bit more than 3 hours and costs ~25€.

Unfortunately their english site is still under construction...
