Message for MarkK_Hanau

Mark. I was hoping you could help me.

My wife and I will be in Germany in July and I am tracing my family history. My family is related to the Funsch%26#39;s in Hafenlohr. I see that Frankfurt is the closet city to there and I was hoping you could give me some info/websites on Hafenlohr that I could look at before we go and we will try to visit while we are in Germany.

Any info would be appreciated.

Regards.

I%26#39;m not really sure I can help you that much, but here is a bit of advice:

German cities and towns usually have URLs named %26lt;town name%26gt;.de which means that you can find the website of the (very small) town of Hafenlohr on

http://www.hafenlohr.de

Unfortunately it is German only. Hafenlohr is across the state border from Hesse in Bavaria. So if you can%26#39;t find a hotel in town, bigger cities nearby would include Aschaffenburg or Wuerzburg, there should also be hotels in Marktheidenfeld or in Lohr which would be even closer. Wertheim is a city nearby which is quite picturesque (check http://www.tourist-wertheim.com)

To get there from Frankfurt Airport you might want to check http://www.bahn.de. It seems as if you need to go to Frankfurt Main Railway Station (Hauptbahnhof) and take a regional express (RE) to Lohr am Main. From there you can take a bus to Hafenlohr (travelling time: a bit more than two hours).

Unfortunately, this is all the information I have. Hope this helped a bit.

Have you just tried some Google searches; e.g, %26quot;Funsch Hafenlohr%26quot;.? There are a handful of hits. One appears to be the 125 year celebration of the Hafenlohr volunteer fire department that lists a couple possibilities (Eduard Funsch %26amp; Joseph Funsch). Depending on how old those names are in the 125 years, you might be able to make a further Google search:

Sorry, I made a misstatement. I started with Yahoo Deutschland rather than Google.

Thank you everyone for your help.

I had tried Googling Hafenlohr but nothing of any substance came up.

I will try everyone%26#39;s suggestions and see what I can find.

Regards,

BrizLion.
