staying in Germany

HI

We%26#39;re going to Germany for one week at the beginning of July. We%26#39;re flying into Weeze and would like to go to Phantasialand and Movie Park, along with some shops and restaurants, we%26#39;re not sure whether to hire a car or use public transport. HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Are the roads easy to understand?

Would it be better to drive myself?

Would public transport get us to everywhere we%26#39;re wanting to go?

Any suggestions?

Thanks

For shopping and restaurants : Centro Oberhausen, Düsseldorf city , Cologne city

It is not easy to find the way in this area and the motorways are sometimes packed , but it is easy to go to Phantasialand and Moviepark by public transport.

Movie park has a train station at walking distance,

To Phantasialand you will find a shuttle bus from the train station

Thanks for your reply.

Can I ask .......... do you think public transport would be better than hiring a car?

I%26#39;d like to go as far up as Movie Park and as far down as perhaps Boppard, do you think we would be better basing ourselves in Cologne or staying different places. We fly into Weeze.,

Thanks

It is not necessary to rent a car .

It is easier and at most time quicker quicker to go by train .

First you should stay in Düsseldorf or Oberhausen :

From there going to Movie park and Centro Oberhausen is not a problem from by public transport .

Then you should base further south in Bonn or Koblenz , from there visit Phantasialand and go down the Rhine by boat (back possibly by train) Cologne is in between , you can look your baggage in Cologne main station and vísit the city on your way to South

You find train connections at www.vrr.de and www.bahn.de

Thank you so much for your help.

Is there a train or transport ticket we could get that would last us the whole week?

Thanks

You can get a week ticket NRW for whole North RhineWestphalia which is valid from Monday to Monday.

There are several kinds of day tickets, which can be cheaper, because the day tickets are valid for 1 or up to 5 persons.

There are also day tickets VRR (Moviepark/Oberhausen/Ruhrarea , Düsseldorf , Wuppertal ,including famous Schwebebahn ) prices depending on distance (www.vrr.de )

In Cologne/Bonn / Phantasialand you need VRS tickets (www.vrsinfo.de)

please not, that thes kind of tickets are only valid in local trains .

You need a normal Bahnticket for Boppard because it is not in North Rhine -Westphalia .

I%26#39;m sure, they will help you at the railway station

Check prices at www.bahn.de for that journey
