Holiday Inn

Hi

We are visiting Berlin in October and are considering staying at the Express by Holiday Inn Berlin - Anhalter Berlin. The address is given as Stresemannstr. 49.

Would anyone recommend this hotel as being in a good location for visiting the attractions during the day and heading out to the bars/clubs at night.

Also is it good for transport links.

We would like somewhere good for the nightlife and very central- does this fit the bill or would anyone suggest a better alternative.

Thanks

Good for sightseeing in general and near Potsdamer Platz (pubs, restaurants etc).

From Anhalter Bahnhof you can get quickly to Oranienburger Strasse by S-Bahn . That%26#39;s an area with lots of restaurants, start of organised pub-crawls etc. Obviously staying in that area it%26#39;d be on your doorstep though!

Other areas mentioned on posts here are Simon-Dach-Strasse and Prenzlauer Berg. Those areas are less central for the sights though.

I stayed there earlier this month and the transport links are great, the hotel very comfortable, the breakfast very good, the staff very helpful.

It styles itself a %26#39;limited services%26#39; hotel - i.e. no restaurant (but there is a lobby bar) and the furnishing of the room is distinctly minimal - but the beds are very comfortable and my room had the biggest shower I%26#39;ve ever seen in a hotel!

I%26#39;d go back in a shot.

As a comfortable base for sightseeing, the hotel is perfect. I was there for 4 days last winter and the price is hard to beat.

The hotel is so %26quot;nothing special%26quot; though that you forget how it looks like the moment you leave it - a modern block.

The hotel is in a very good location for sightseeing as well as for going out.

Potsdamer Platz is in walking distance and there you%26#39;ll already find a few bars and restaurants. Some other nightlife areas close by are Winterfeldplatz/Goltzstr. (underground station Nollendorfplatz), Mitte (e.g. Oranienburger str.), Prenzlauer Berg (e.g. Helmholtzplatz, Kastanienallee). Just to name a few. Berlin hasn%26#39;t really just one nightlife area. All areas are easily reached by public transport whatever time of the day.

Only to join what the others have written: good location, the hotel is Holiday Inn, so it is not something extremely %26quot;special%26quot;, but very comfortable and you know what you get.
