Berlin Mitte (= middle or center) is always central.

There are always taxis available at Schönefeld. And they will happily drive you into central Berlin.

You could also use the trains from Schönefeld Airport to Friedrichstrasse station (EUR 2,10 pp) and a taxi from there (~ 600 m). This will be considerably cheaper.

For sure not.

The location is close to the Deutsches Theater

The location is really central, the hotel is in walking distance of Friedrichstraße. Some sights are in walking distance, others are easily reached by public transport with a few stops.

Don%26#39;t worry ... there are always heaps of taxis availabe at Schönefeld. It would be also easy to get to your hotel by public transport. You could take the airport express and get off at Friedrichstr. and either walk from there or take the bus 147.

The area is perfectly fine. You have sights close by as well as restaurants. There is nightlife in Mitte but that is a bit away from your hotel. There is no need to worry about stag parties. Stag parties are not common in Berlin and if you see one it is probably one from the UK.

Hi,

I agree with the others! The location is really excellent. I would like it if I was a tourist....

:-)

Stag parties tend to be groups from Britain wherever you go (Berlin, Barcelona, Riga....), though in Riga we did see a %26quot;local%26quot; hen party.

I flew back to Barcelona on Friday late afternoon. Liverpool airport was full of people starting the drinking before they even got on the plane. Plane full (mainly because of stag groups). I%26#39;d flown out with lots of Espanyol football fans on the Tuesday morning .Quite a contrast there!

The area in Mitte which gets busy with groups is Oranienburger Strasse. When we were there at Easter a massive group setting of on a pub-crawl walked past. That%26#39;s organised by one of the walking-tours outfits, not a stag group though.

You might want to try Agon Frankfurter Allee. A real baragain, very nice.

Hi FX,

i%26#39;m posting from Swisshotel West Berlin. Mitte is a good place to stay especially if you are flying into schoenefeld airport as it is on that side of the city. I%26#39;m staying in West Berlin which nearly doubles the journey time.

Most of the best tourist attractions, bars, restaurants seem to be in Mitte/East Berlin area, the Western Side is pretty quiet, although there is good shopping.

I was in Mitte last night and there are no hens/stags worth talkin about, infact I can%26#39;t remember seeing one. You might get the odd crowd of English or Irish lads about but thats it.

The public transport is great especially the underground its very easy to get around. There are plenty of taxis about if you need them too.

@NewsboyBelfast

You are right most tourist attractions are found in Mitte but you%26#39;ll find a few nice places in the Western part of Berlin. Anyway, you%26#39;ll find great pubs, cafes, bars and restaurants in the Charlottenburg area. If you still in Berlin you could start with SAvignyplatz if you haven%26#39;t been there. Apart from that you could go to the area around Winterfeldplatz/Goltzstr (underground station Nollendorfplatz) or Olivaer Platz/Pariser Str. (kind of between underground stations Uhlandstr. and ADenauerplatz).
