Hello everybody, I live in Italy (and I%26#39;m italian) but I will stay June and July in Dusseldorf for working. I read some very useful information in this forum but I would appreciate very much if you could give me some more information about living in Dusseldorf during summer. Apart from the usual tips (also very important!) about social life, meeting people etc. I would like to understand something about sports and activities. For example is it possible to find beaches and maybe to swim in the river?

Swimming in the Rhine is generally not recommended (strong current and heavy boat traffic). I.e. it%26#39;s really risky to swim there. Near harbours etc. anway not allowed.
Same like some quarry ponds. They may look idyllic, but the statistics say something different.
There are %26quot;official%26quot; lakes, like Unterbacher See

which has 2 beaches

Sorry to bother you with other questions but given than swimming in the river is crazy, could you please tell me if you have anyway beaches along the river to just sunbathing or you have in town nice open swimming pools, aquapark or similar?
