will be in Berlin during day and need recommendations for restaurants open at lunch that would be good to try to sample great authentic german or berlin cuisine. There will only be 2 to 4 of us so somewhere that would offer a sampling platter or tapas-like servings would be best.
thanks

Hi,
there is a pretty famous german %26#39;Tapas%26#39; restaurant in Charlottenburg: Schnitzelei. I haven%26#39;t been there yet but it got some really good reviews in the papers.

Nola is an excellent restaurant but IMHO thez are more Swiss/South German than authentic Berlin. Maybe you should try Poststr. 28, Tel.: 242410 in the Nikolaiviertel.

thank you for the responses....most helpful. Either authentic German or Berlin Cuisine will do. We are sightseeing that day, so I will pass these suggestions to our guide and have her work one of them into our itinerary. If you think of others, please pass them along.
thanks again

Sorry, the name of the restaurant was Reinhardt (from the Poststr. 28).

Looking at the Nola website, Schnitzei and Nola%26#39;s in Tiergarten don%26#39;t open until 4pm on weekdays, and the Nola%26#39;s AM Weinberg is only 10 to 1pm. I expect that we will want to stop for lunch somewhere in the noon to 2pm range so I am looking for restaurants who are known for serving lunch during the weekdays.
What are your thoughts on the gourmet floor at the DaDe We or Restaurant Weihenstephaner in Hackescher Market? Are these places likely on a tourist sightseeing itinerary? and if so, would they be reasonable choices for what I am looking for?
I have also heard of Prater Biergarten on Kastanenallee....do you know of it.....could this be a good alternative if it is a nice day and again on a sightseeing itinerary.
I have checked on some other recommendations people have given me but they are open only at night. Have you heard of Zur Rippe on Poststrasse? Is it what I might be looking for?
I expect that there are a lot of cafes open for lunch, but as you can see I am looking for that food experience that will define our visit to Berlin.
thanks again
