When in Oct to go to Germany so I may see the maple leaves ?

Hi,

Please advise which period during Oct should I go to Germany so I may see the maple leaves at their most beaufiful stage (different shades of red, orange, yellow, green and brown at the same time). What will be the weather and temperature like at the time (just normally speaking)?

There%26#39;s another thing. Does the Beer Festival usually start at the last week of Sep and last for 15 days ?

Thanks in advance for any reply.

First, I don%26#39;t believe that Germany has that many maple trees, not like New England in the USA. Then, predicting Fall color is almost impossible as ths is largely dependent on the weather which in recent years has become very unpredictable, and to confuse the issue further, Fall color is also elevation dependent. Last year I saw very little Fall color, mostly brown. The year before there was good Fall color. I think that mid to late October would be your best bet with no guarantee. Also, if you visit a low mountan range, such as the Schwaebische Alb, which also has mainly decidious trees (not the Black Forest), you may be able to find an elevation that has good Fall color.

In October the highs are likely to be between 5-15C. I don%26#39; believe that it will be particularly rainy, at least by Stuttgart.

Stuttgart%26#39;s 162nd Cannstatter Volksfest (world%26#39;s second largest beer festival) is 29Sept to 14Oct. Munich%26#39;s even larger Oktoberfest (although Suttgart%26#39;s has more rides) is usually a week earlier.
