Olympia Park

Hello, I would like to know if it%26#39;s worth the time to check out Olympia Park. Is there anything special that is worthawhile? Thank you for your help!

Depends on what you like.

Interesting features

- Oly-dorf, small concrete cubicles from the olympic games turned into students appartments. The inhabitants were encouraged to paint the outside of their appartments, turning it into colorful rows of houses in very different styles. Sort of cute

-BMW museum and BMW-world, both under construction, opening late this year/ next year

-Olympia stadium, interesting architecture, you can also do a guided tour of the transparent roof.

-Climbing up the Olympiaberg (rather a little hill than a mountain), to get a good view over the city. excellent on a clear day to see the alps.

- reward yourself for your strenous walk with a beer at the tiny Olympia-Alm, a small self-service restaurant and beergarden half way up the hill

-visit the peculiar Ost-West Friedenskirche (East-west church of peace) built by the even more peculiar Mr. Timofei (deceased in 2004) from rubble of post-war Munich

-depending on when you visit, there are often festivities in summer that might be worthwhile (free open air music and such)

Skip it.

A friend and I went once and were underwhelmed. There is so much more to see and do, so don%26#39;t waste your time, like we did. (Don%26#39;t mean to be harsh, but when compared to the Residenz, Englischer Garten, Alte/Neue Pinakothek, Marienplatz, Schloss Nymphenburg, Deutsches Museum, Viktualienmarkt, beerhalls...)

Lenbachhaus is one of my favorite art museums, period. Funny I never see it mentioned in these posts.

I would NOT say: %26quot;skip it%26quot; like the user before.

Though I%26#39;m from Munich I always enjoy the Olympic stadion with its nice roof. You can also go up the Olympic tower (or just walk up a hill in the park) to have a view over the city.

I agree with the user above that there are nice other sights.

In Munich for 4 days 3 weeks ago.We managed to do the tourist things and the Olympia park to.We enjoyed checking out the painted dorms-something different.Strolled up the hill near sunset and enjoyed the view.I say go-you can cram a lot into a short time frame.Have a wonderful time-we did.
