Does that sound right???
I finally got the Trenitalia site figured out for the Italy portion of our trip but now I%26#39;m having a terrible time finding a fare for this leg of the journey.
Can anyone please let me know if this seems high or to be expected for such a trip. If it does sound right is there a cheaper alternative?

250 US$?
Why is the price in US$? Where did you get this from? Are you looking at raileurope?
one way price is EUR 91,20, 2nd class. R/t 182,40 = close to 250 US$
You can use a Bavaria Ticket to Lindau and take a train from there. But it won%26#39;s save you a lot.

%26gt; of our trip
i.e. more than 1 person?
Which day you plan to travel, i.e. will it be a Saturday or Sunday?
Do you want to use the fastest route or are you interested in scenic routes (will need more time and involves more changes)?

It%26#39;s actually my daughters leg of the trip with friends. 4 girls under 25 coming from Italy, Turkey, Spain and England...meeting in Munich...spending a few days there(possibly daytripping to Salzburg area) and then traveling to Interlaken on a Saturday in August. (Then I%26#39;m meeting my daughter back in Italy on Monday).
They aren%26#39;t in a huge rush to get there at any specific time and would like to have a scenic ride but would like to get to Interlaken in daylight.
I just can%26#39;t seem to figure out the rail sites to get an accurate fare traveling from Munich to Interlaken. I feel like a moron but I seem to keep going round and round in circle and getting nowhere fast!

Altamiro -
I did break down and use the raileurope site to try to get at least an idea of the fares since I was having no luck figuring out the country specific rail sites. I know thats not the way to go, but figured it would give me an estimate at least. Your fare of 92eur is much more what i had in mind. i just can%26#39;t seem to wrap my head around things enough to find that fare myself.
This trip came up very recently and i haven%26#39;t had the luxury of pouring over the forum for advice like i did for the other part of our trip. I feel like a dope for asking for help with something that should be so easy....but I%26#39;m stuck!

Please tell me, how is Raileurope (including all the %26quot;breaking down%26quot;) easier to figure out than say www.bahn.de, where you enter your start and destination and time and get the schedule and prices??? Or do you mean you didn^t know the addresses?
In any case:
Germany: www.bahn.de
Switzerland: www.sbb.ch/en
Austria: www.oebb.at
Raileurope schedules are horribly incomplete and the prices have not a lot to do with reality on the ground - especially outside of France (I don%26#39;t know why France).

Thank you for pointing out that I%26#39;m and even bigger moron than I had already suspected.
For example: when I go to the Bahn site and as you say simply enter my start and destination and time and get the schedule and prices....I get the schedule...but no prices. It says %26quot;Information about fares not possible%26quot;. I%26#39;ve taken it all the way to where it asks for my credit card information and it never gives me a fare.
Basically the same story, differnt wording on the sbb and oebb sites - no fares given. I%26#39;m assuming since you asnwered with such disdain that I%26#39;m just missing something easy....but I still can%26#39;t figur eit out.

It is really strange! I just entered Muenchen and Interlaken for tomorrow and got the prices. Some tickets cannot be priced because they include a ferry trip or something... but the direct ones should work. Can it be that you are trying to find the prices too far in advance? Sorry, not to make it sound like you are stupid, but there seems to be a mistake...
Trying again... Muenchen, Interlaken, tomorrows date, 8:00
it asks for age
I enter 30 as example
get 4 connections, varying in price, one without fare, three with..

Maybe it%26#39;s because I%26#39;m accessing the site from the US? I%26#39;m grasping at straws now aren%26#39;t I? I thought maybe it was a date issue so I did as you mentioned and just tried tomorrows date. It gave me 3 schedules but wouldn%26#39;t give me fares as the date was too soon to mail tickets? I tried a date a couple of weeks out and again, it gives me 3 schedules but under the fare column it says:
%26quot;Unknown tariff abroad - For the most important foreign cities (e.g. Vienna, Amsterdam, Zurich, etc.) fares are available.
For your requested connection fares are unfortunately not available.%26quot;
Thank you for trying to help - I%26#39;m hoping at this point that it%26#39;s not just me!

Try deleting all cookies from your computer, then access the site again. If the problem is your location, this should reset the system to not knowing.
one question - in which format did you enter the date? although for tomorrow it doesn%26#39;t make any difference..

in any case, now you know the price and can plan accordingly. buy the ticket when you are in Munich...
