Karlsruhe had a wonderful symphony (my cousin plays in it). I don%26#39;t know if there will be any performances during your visit, but perhaps. There is a nice zoo there. Have a picnic on the schloss grounds. It%26#39;s is lovely there.
When I lived in Karlsruhe, a strassenbahn traveled to the northern edge of the Black Forest...I don%26#39;t remember the town, but I think it was the A strassenbahn. It%26#39;s the final stop. Just ask at the tourist office.
Karlsruhe is not all that big. You can walk to most places worth seeing or hop on the strassenbahn.

There is direct high speed train service from Karlsruhe to Paris. Journey takes 3 hours only. Check www.bahn.de, search for the international visitors link to get to the English language site.
Make sure you visit Bruchsal, Heidelberg, Deidesheim, Freiburg and Colmar while you%26#39;re in the area.
