I have a day trip to plan in July from Belgium. Curious if anyone would recommend Frankfurt or Amsterdam. I dont know which too choose ( sort of on a tight budget) very open minded about traveling to new places, but looking for someone%26#39;s advice of which would be more fun/better sights...
any input would be greatly appreciated !

What about Cologne?
Closer to Belgium and more interesting than Frankfurt.

Cologne is closer from Belgium. It%26#39;s not true that it%26#39;s more interesting than Frankfurt, but it is a completely different kind of city. They have a few churches to visit and plenty of bars and restaurants.
But what about Trier? Even closer, beautiful city, plenty of history incl. Porta Nigra, and old Roman castle gate. From there take the train to Cochem or Bernkastel Kues. This would be a day packed with sights and beauty.

Between Amsterdam and Frankfurt, I%26#39;d say Amsterdam but all other suggestions sound good too.
