violins

I am looking to buy a violin and a bow. I%26#39;ve heard that Mittenwald is a good place to shop. I%26#39;ve only been through the town once (several years ago) and was not interested in fiddles at the time. Now, things have changed.

Essentially what I%26#39;m looking for is a violin with a little age on it and a good (more important) bow. (Sartory quality, for example.) Can anyone help? Thanks.

Go to Yahoo and do a search using the terms: mittenwald violin. You%26#39;ll probably find more than enough information about violin making in Mittenwald.

My father and I went to Mittenwald in February 2007 with the intent to purchase a violin. We did make a purchase with Mr. Rainer Leonhardt, violin maker in Mittenwald. He opened his workshop and showed us everything. Even let my father try it out. He has old, new, and unique violins. Very friendly. He had it looked at by a violin specialist in Houston TX and was told he got a very nice violin.

My father is very pleased 70+ year old violin and would go again when given the chance.
