The language spoek in Germany is German. However, some people do speak some English if you ask politely. And you have to be generous about the quality of their English as most people don%26#39;t get any chances to ever apply their English in day to day activities.

There are plenty of towns and cities in the South-Western part of Germany that you can and should visit: Heidelberg, Baden-Baden, Freiburg, Strasbourg (on the French side) and even Basel (in Switzerland). Of course you can go all the way up to visit Frankfurt, Mainz and Wiesbaden, too. And a great shopping find is the spacious pedestrian zone of Mannheim.

Use of %26quot;.%26quot; and %26quot;,%26quot; with numbers in Europe is exactly the other way around as in the US. E.g. €1.500,75 means one thausand fivehundred Euros and 75 cents.
