I will be in Berlin for 8 days. Is there such a thing as a week-long public transit + museums pass as in other European cities? Also, can someone recommend where to buy a good map of Potsdam?

There is the Berlin Welcome Card, which includes museums and public transportation:
berlin-tourist-information.de/english/berlin…
You can find a Potsdam map in any tourist information point or bookstore. e.g., Dussmann, at the corner of Unter den Linden and Friedrichstrasse.
