I%26#39;m sure a local Berliner will respond to your post soon. But just to let you know, I%26#39;m only 32 myself and I always need at least two if not three nights in Berlin to at least feel somewhat like I%26#39;d seen it.
In my point of view Berlin has become THE party capital of Europe in the past couple of years. I%26#39;m a frequent traveler to Dublin, London, Zürich, Amsterdam and Cologne but Berlin is the only city where I feel that way.
Also there are a lot of cheap to free fun things to do in Berlin during the day. I strongly hope a local picks up from here but if not I%26#39;ll look up my old notes...

Hi,
the Generator Berlin is a bit out of the way. I%26#39;d rather opt for one of the following... all of them are perfectly located in non-touristy areas but still close to nightlife/bars/sightseeing etc.

As mentioned before you%26#39;ll find nicer and more central/convinient hostels than the Generator.
Berlins public transport is pretty good and you wont have any problems getting back to your hostel even at night. During the week the S-Bahn and underground stops some time after midnight but you have always nightbusses. On weekends most S-Bahn and underground lines don%26#39;t stop. Even a taxi is affordable compared to other European capitals.
