Me and my partner are going to Berlin middle of June and we were told that Prenzlauer Berg is the nicest part to stay which is non touristy area to stay in, and great for nightlife and shopping.
What I%26#39;d like to know is if these 2 hotels are in a nice scenic area and quiet? and how far would it be to walk to a U Bahn and to the main cafes? some people mentioned there are scenic areas and really ugly ones in Prenzlauer Berg.

if there are no good, then would you be able to recommend any hotels with a nicer part of the area?
I%26#39;d really appreciate your help

Hi,
Prenzlauer Berg is a perfect choice. From the Hotels you mentioned I would prefer the area of the Hotel Greifswald. The Greifswalder Str. is a busy main road and certainly not very nice but you can easily walk to Boetzow- and Winsquarter within 5 minutes. Both quarters are pretty and popular residential neighborhoods with some nice cafes and restaurants. Also Kollwitzplatz is in walking distance (maybe a 15 minute walk).
You might also check the following accomondations... all of them are perfectly located in P%26#39;Berg:

Here is a little review:

This is very close to Kollwitzplatz, the vibrant centre of the Prenzlauer Berg with countless nice restaurants and bars.
Another accomondation near there:

Kastanienhof:

Near there is also Hotel Jurine:

Also the Schoenhouse apartments always get good reviews. The location is really excellent...just on the edge of Mitte and Prenzlauer Berg.

Thank you for the information! I checked with some of the hotels you mentioned but it seems unfortunately some of them are booked up..
I had a look at a hotel called %26#39; Adele%26#39;. it is on greifswalder strasse and it says that it is about 5-10 mins walk to kollwitzplatz. have you or anyone been to this hotel or has heard about whether it is good?
This is their website.

Hi,
I%26#39;ve never heard of the Adele Hotel. The location is ok although it%26#39;s rather a 15 minute walk to Kollwitzplatz than 5. But as said before also the Wins-quarter and Bötzow-quarter (left and right of the Greifswalder) are pretty neighbohoods with some nice restaurants and bars.
There are also 2 popular nightclubs (Magnet and Knaack - both a bit grungy with mainly alternative music) in walking distance of the Hotel.

Hotel Adele is a great boutique hotel. I%26#39;d guess they have a dozen rooms or so. I%26#39;ve been in two and they have great bathrooms and new-ish decor with modern lines. The ground floor is the restaurant, where they serve the included breakfast...also nice. The street can be a little noisy with traffic and ever-present Berlin street construction so I%26#39;d request a quiet room. No air conditioning so you might want to request a room that gets some shade during the day to keep the temps reasonable.
Just noticed a hotel right across the street - Alex Hotel - on Griefswalder also. Might want to check that one too.
Previous suggestions also good.

hi Schiff
Thanks for the info on Adele hotel. It%26#39;s good to see someone stayed there and liked it. did you stay in a quiet room?
I was also looking at the Holiday Inn city centre east hotel but I think that might be a bit far from all the sights and Prenzlauer Berg?
how is the weather there at the moment? do you reckon we should stay in a hotel with air-con? would it get too hot to sleep?
also everyone is saying how Prenzlauer Berg is a nicer place to stay..I was confused between Prenzlauer and Friedrichshain as 2 of my friends who lived in Berlin suggested Friedrichshain more...they are both kind of alternative people.. but they said both areas are very alike. is it true?
as it%26#39;s our first time visit, we are pretty confused.
