Best place to visit between Freiburg and Schweinfurt

My husband and I are staying again in Germany this year for our holidays. We are flying to Stuttgart, dropping my daughter off at Schweinfurt and then proceeding to Karlsruhe for a bird show. We are then travelling down to Freiburg for a few days. Our problem is we have to collect our daughter from Schweinfurt before heading back to Stuttgart airport. In order to make it easier I want to spend the last day of our holiday somewhere different between Freiburg and Schweinfurt, without straying too far from the main route. (Yes we could have initially organised this a bit better but then at the time of booking the flights we didn%26#39;t know my daughter was going to find herself a german %26#39;boyfriend%26#39;. ) Any ideas?

Heidelberg, Schwetzingen, the Neckar river valley are pretty much half way. You could also spend an evening in the sizzling nightlife of Frankfurt. Or stay closer to Schweinfurt in Würzburg and visit the castle and the old town.

Of course you could stay in Stuttgart. Look at www.stutgart-tourist.de for some of the things to do there. As you seem to be interested in birds, visit Wilhelma (Europe%26#39;s largest combination zoo-botanical gardens) set amidst the nice Moorish architecture of this former palace. I enjoy visiting it 2-5 times a week, and they have plenty of birds both as exhibits and wild, such as the 7 nests of herons by the entrance in the pine tree and the storks nesting atop one of the Moorish buildings. Among other things, the Mercedes Benz museum is excellent and loved by all visitors irregardless of age or gender.
