Zurich to Neuschwanstein Castle

Hi can anyone tell me how we can get from Zurich to Neuschwanstein castle? We will be there in December this year.

I would take the train from Zurich-Airport to Lindau/Germany. It%26#39;s the first city in Germany, coming from Switzerland.

From Lindau I would rent a car. It%26#39;s the easiest way and I guess also the cheapest (esp. if you are more people).

If you want to go by train to Neuschwanstein you have to go to Fuessen and from there by Bus. From Lindau you could get a very inexpensive %26quot;Bayern-Ticket%26quot;. I think, it%26#39;s approx. Euro 32.-- for up to 5 people.

For train connectiones you can check www.deutschebahn.de

Good Luck!

DB timetable

From: Zuerich

To: Hohenschwangau

From Lindau you can travel with local trains on the Bavaria Ticket.

Bavaria Ticket Single (1 person) EUR 19,00

Bavaria Ticket (2-5 persons) EUR 27,00

The Bavaria Ticket does also cover the buses from Füssen to Hohenschwangau. The bus stop is close to the ticket centre for Neuschwanstein Castle.

From: Lindau

To: Hohenschwangau

and select as means of transport %26quot;only local transport%26quot; if you like to use the Bavaria Ticket. Most connections will include however anyway only local trains, but this way you%26#39;re on the safe side.

I would not recommend to rent a car. Will be more expensive. And in December there can be snowy and icy conditions on this route. Which may well destroy the time advantage of the more direct route by car.
