Any suggestions on which castles are the most historically appealing of the castle hotels?

%26quot;historically appealing%26quot;
The castle hotels are more into a romantic appealing, than a historical one.
Electricity, WC/shower ensuite, the matresses, the windows ... there are a lot of things which wouldn%26#39;t be tolerated by the guests if these would be really in a %26quot;historical%26quot; state.
Anyway if travelling by train and with your itinerary there is not that much choice to select from:

Hello Abalada,
While the history is an interesting factor, I must admit that the idea of a FEW modern conveniences such as the ones you mentioned don%26#39;t sound too terible to me!
Thanks for the information. I%26#39;ll try that site.

Do try that site. The Castle Hotel Schoenburg is in the nice town of Oberwesel on the Rhine. It has comfortable rooms, great cuisine, and is family-owned, which I always find more attractive than a large corporate feel... I have stayed there several times. It is my splurge from simpler accommodations.
If you wish to see how they reallty lived in the middle ages, do visit the Castle Marksburg as I mentioned in another post.
Hope you enjoy your visit in Germany!

Hello Linnmac,
I%26#39;m looking forward to that experience. Thanks for your info and observations.

If you do reserve there, please inquire about transportation up the long steep hill from the train station (unless you can hike). I%26#39;m sure they have it available, or can give you a taxi number. I have hiked up, but had only a small wheeled backpack. As good defense strategy, of course, most castles are located high above the town!

That is probably the hint of the day! Thanks!
