Glory is in the feelings of the beholder!

Too true......

I%26#39;ve actually had some fun in Watford:-)

Munich for me? I like Altstadt being so compact. Once you%26#39;ve done the sights I%26#39;m happy to stay in this quarter for the bavarian restaurants and I just love Viktualienmarkt for the food and great beer garden.

I tend not to move too far from here as a vacation visitor, no need IMO

Great city for bike riding.

I was recently in Watford, very charming place indeed.

|||

Watford does pack a few surprises, and has more to it than you would think. I am liking the sound of Munich a lot.

Globalgeezer.

Are you asking this as someone who has not visited Munich?

I thought you had been and were %26#39;swopping%26#39; likes/dislikes.

if deciding on a possible visit, give us some specific ideas on your likes and we can advise further.

I go a couple of times every year on business, but the love city so much that I always extend my visit for another couple of nights R %26amp; R. IMO good weather is a must so choose time of year carefully.

When I get home I%26#39;m a stone heavier lol

No, I am writing this as somebody who hasn%26#39;t been there...yet. The things I like are:

quirky attractions

intriguing buildings

atmospheric areas (especially %26#39;urban vilages%26#39;)

lovely parks and public gardens

areas where there is a lot of life, vibrancy and young people

characterful cafes and shops

areas which are quaint and a bit historical

%26#39;iconic%26#39; or arresting photo opportunities

|||

in that case you must go Global.

I%26#39;m signing off now, will contribute more Monday. You%26#39;ll just love Old Munich, (Aldstadt) That%26#39;s the area to stay in.

To add some to Stooferuk%26#39;s very good suggestions:

A beautiful park is the %26quot;English Garden%26quot; where you have a lot of life, vibrancy and young people. It%26#39;s a huge area with a restaurant %26quot;Seehaus%26quot; at the lake (little pricey), the %26quot;Chinese tower%26quot; with a beautiful beer garden and a restaurant and in the summer there are plenty of sun bathers (some nude).

A quaint area is %26quot;Schwabing%26quot;, specially East of Leopoldstrasse and close to the English Garden

or %26quot;Haidhausen%26quot; with Wiener Platz and Max-Weber-Platz not far from the Bavarian Parliament across the Isar river.

The Residenz and Odeonsplatz,

The castle in Nymphenburg with park is a must!

The museums: %26quot;Alte Pinakothek%26quot;, %26quot;Neue Pinakothek%26quot; and %26quot;Pinakothek der Moderne%26quot;.

Valentinmuseum at Isar-Tor-Platz (about a very famous comedian).

and and and ....

I love many places / attractions in Munchen... Probably too many to list them all, but I like the biergarten at the Chinescher Turm, Englischer Garten, BMW Museum, Augustiner Keller, HBhaus, Residenz, walking thru the city, etc.
