Is it possible to send a 20 kg box via airmail to the Innsbruck train station to be held for someone? our son is traveling to innsbruck for a summer semester, but originally flying into Zurich from the USA....taking Air Berlin to Berlin and then Vienna for about 2 weeks before he arrives to Innsbruck......he has to take his books with him and all of his stuff for the entire semester, so he will have approx 20 kg over the passenger limit of 20 kg imposed by Air berlin. Is it possible to send something to be held at the train station for him? He will be arriving via eurail pass from vienna to innsbruck......

No. The train stations in Austria do not handle luggage anymore.
You can send only to places like the student hall of residence, the department of the university etc. He has to clear this up of course in advance.
