In August we arrive in Frankfurt and are planning on driving to Czech Rep. and Poland, does anyone have any suggestions on car rental or what is reasonable to look for. Or should we train it until we get to Poland? I have heard it is very expensive to rent a car in Germany that will be taken to Poland. We have two weeks. I am at a loss as I have not been here before and it can be very overwhelming looking at all the options. Thank you in advance.

I also heard, that it is more complicated to rent a car to be taken to Poland, because the car rental service fear, the car might get stolen in Poland.
I would recommend to go by train to Poland. Trains in Poland are cheap, but they are not very reliable (anyway still to prefer against the problems with a stolen hired car ...).

Many rental cars just don%26#39;t allow to drive with their cars into the Czech Republic or Poland. Luxory cars are definitly a no go. For others some rental company just want to know your travel plans (countries) beforehand. Or they allow it for a rather small extra insurance.
What you should definitly avoid is to return a car in a different country, as the international drop off fees are really high (the car has to be driven back to its home country).

Volvo%26#39;s and Ford%26#39;s a fine to take to Poland. You must let the rental agency know about your itinerary and they%26#39;ll give you a suitable car. Don%26#39;t worry about that. Have fun driving thru Central Europe!

Excellent suggestions! Thank-you. It looks like I%26#39;ve got to figure out the train thing or find a volvo or ford. I havn%26#39;t seen those cars listed on rental car sites yet.

Lisa, Sixt and Hertz have got plenty of Volvos, Fords etc. Just ask upon pick-up. tell them where you%26#39;re going and they know what kind of car to hand out to you. Request a Diesel though as you%26#39;ll save some 30 cents per Liter. Also keep in mind that they%26#39;ll give you a stick unless you tell them you prefer automatic.

We just returned from our trip. We flew to Frankfurt, rented a car, and drove it into Poland. We rented a Peugot , automatic (large station wagon) - the cost was just under $1,000 Cdn. for 2 weeks (from Hertz via CAA). A smaller car %26amp; standard transmission would cost less. Car rentals in Poland are ridiculously expensive. Hope you enjoy your trip - we did!
