Travelling between Basel and Tuttlingen

Hey,

Anyone know the best way to travel between Basel and Tuttlingen in Germany? The train seems to be expensive for the day of travel (21.06.07) so a bus would probably be the best. Details of timetables etc would be great

Thanks a lot for any help!

Train takes 1.48hrs and costs €30 one way or - depending on how far in advance you book - from €29 roundtrip.

What you have to know though is that Basel has got a Swiss, a French and a German train station. You must search for %26quot;Basel Bad Bf%26quot; or %26quot;Basel Badischer Bahnhof%26quot; for train rides to Germany as the ride is then considered to be domestic and affordable.

Check www.bahn.de, enter from Basel Bad Bf to Tuttlingen, date, times and you can make your online booking and seat reservation.

There aren%26#39;t barely any long distance buses in Germany.

There is only a bus to Munich from Switzerland. But not from Basel. And not daily, i.e. none at 21.06.07.

DB timetable

http://reiseauskunft.bahn.de/bin/query.exe/en

From: Basel Bad Bf

To: Tuttlingen

and select as means of transport %26quot;only local transport%26quot;.

You can use the Baden-Württemberg Ticket for this trip. A day ticket covering all local trains (e.g. S-Bahn, RB, RE, IRE) in Baden-Württemberg and a bit beyond, e.g. Basel Bad Bf and Basel SBB. Validity

Mo-Fr 9am till 3am next day

Sa,So midnight till 3am next day

Baden-Württemberg Ticket Single (1 person) EUR 18,00

Baden-Württemberg Ticket (2-5 persons) EUR 27,00

Guess you fly into Basel Airport for the Southside Festival.

From Basel Airport you need a single ticket for 2 zone: CHF 3,80

SBB timetable

http://fahrplan.sbb.ch/bin/query.exe/en?

From: Basel Airport

To: Basel Bad Bf

From Tuttlingen to the festival grounds there are free shuttle buses. But otherwise the SBG buses are anyway covered by the Baden-Württemberg Ticket.

Baden-Württemberg Ticket is now (since 1st June) also valid from/to Basel SBB. However you cannot buy it there (yet) from ticket machines, only at at the counter (where it is generally 2 Euro more expensive). Basel Bad Bf is a DB railway station, albeit in Switzerland. There you can buy it from ticket machines.

Thanks everyone for your help!

Managed to book 2 tickets for 48 euros so very pleased!

Will be travelling onto Munich after the Southside festival and then flying back into Basel in late July for a couple of days.

Thanks again!
